Effingham Sacred Heart downed St. Peter Lutheran twice Tuesday evening in junior high school volleyball competition.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade match 25-16, 11-25, 26-24 to improve to 4-3.

In eighth-grade play, Sacred Heart won in two games, 25-16, 25-14 to improve to 5-2.

In a fifth-grade match, Sacred Heart won 15-12, 25-16 to improve to 4-0-2.

At Charleston

Effingham St. Anthony fell to host Charleston twice Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups lost the seventh-grade match 25-15, 25-16. In eighth-grade play, Charleston won the opener 25-22 before St. Anthony came back with a 25-17 victory. Charleston then went out at 25-22.

St. Anthony is back in action Thursday against Effingham at 6 p.m.

Altamont split National Trail Conference victories with Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday evening.

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest 25-19, 25-22. Altamont drops to 0-2 in the conference, 0-4 overall.

In the eighth-grade match, Stew-Stras won the opener 25-21 but Altamont came back with 25-21 and 26-24 counts to improve to 2-0 in the conference, 3-1 overall.

Jasper County handed Oblong two losses. Jasper County was a 25-23, 25-15 winner in seventh-grade action.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County won the opener 25-13 before Oblong came back with a 25-23 win. Jasper County then claimed the match 25-12.
