NEWTON -- Effingham Sacred Heart claimed two wins over Newton St. Thomas in junior high volleyball competition Thursday.
The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade encounter 25-20, 25-16 to improve to 2-2 on the season.
In the eighth-grade game, Sacred Heart pushed its record to 3-1 with 25-13, 25-21 scores.

Jasper County and Sigel St. Michael split wins Thursday evening.
St. Michael claimed the seventh-grade match 26-24, 25-20. In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County won 25-15, 25-18.
Jasper County will host the American Heart Association Red-Out Game Wednesday, February 4 against Cumberland. Raffle tickets are being sold for an I-Pad Air and case and theme baskets.
