EHS Picks Up Regional Win, Volleyball Roundup

MATTOON -- Effingham Higih School opened Class 3A Mattoon Volleyball Regional play with a victory Monday evening.
The Hearts defeated Mount Carmel, winning the opening game 25-17, losing the second contest 25-22 before going out at 25-12. Chandler Ramey led EHS in kills with 12, digs with 12 and blocks with two. Felicia Totten had 32 assists and Hanna Pike claimed eight aces. The Hearts are now 22-13 on the season.
In the opening match, Olney defeated Paris 25-11, 25-9. Tonight's matches have Mattoon taking on Olney at 5:30 followed by EHS against Charleston at 6:30. The winners advance to the title match Thursday.

Class 1A Wayne City Regional
North Clay (Louisville) picked up an opening round victory in the Wayne City Regional Tuesday evening.
The Cardinals won the opener 25-6 over Grayville. Grayville then came back with a 25-16 count. North Clay fought to a 26-24 win in the final contest.
North Clay moves on to face Cisne at 5:30 p.m. today followed by Wayne City against Clay City at 6:30.

Class 1A Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Regional
Sandoval and the host squad moved on to second round play with victories.
The Blackhawks downed Odin 25-15, 25-22 in the opener. Christ Our Rock Lutheran then beat Webber Township (Bluford) 25-15, 25-15.
Tonight's action finds Sandoval taking on Woodlawn at 5:30 followed by Christ Our Rock Lutheran facing South Central at 6:30.
Class 1A Hutsonville Regional
Host Hutsonville Co-op moved on in its own regional Monday evening. Hutsonville Co-op handed Beecher City a loss in two games.
The opener was a hard-fought 26-24 score followed by a 25-19 count. Hutsonville Co-op will now face Oblong tonight at 5:30 followed by Cowden-Herrick taking on Dieterich at 6:30.

Class 1A Neoga Regional
Neoga moved on to second round action play with a victory over Bethany Okaw Valley Monday.
Neoga won 25-21, 25-22. The Indians move on to face National Trail Conference rival Stewardson-Strasburg at 5:30 tonight. Windsor will meet Arcola in the second match at 6:30.
Class 2A Marshall Reigonal
Host Marshall and Cumberland will see action tonight after opening round victories Monday.
Marshall won over Casey-Westfield 25-17, 25-18. Cumberland then lost its opening game against Teutopolis 25-12 but came back with 25-21, 25-22 counts for the victory. The Pirates are now 10-20 on the season.
Marshall faces Effingham St. Anthony tonight at 5:30 followed by Cumberland meeting Kansas Co-op at 6:30.

Class 2A Robinson Regional
Altamont saw its season come to a close with a loss to Lawrenceville. The Indians won the opener 25-19 but Lawrenceville regrouped and came back with 25-15, 25-21 wins for the match.
In the second contest, Flora defeated Red Hill (Bridgeport) 25-19, 25-17.
Tonight's matches feature Robinson against Lawrenceville at 5:30 followed by Newton taking on Flora at 6:30.

Class 2A Litchfield Regional
Pana and Vandalia picked up opening round victories in the Litchfield Regional Monday evening.
Pana defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-19, 25-21. Vandalia was a 25-19, 25-17 winner over Litchfield.
Tonigiht's matches feature Shelbyville against Pana at 5:30 followed by Vandalia taking on Carlinville at 6:30.
