Hearts Drop Apollo VB Match To Salem

Effingham High School dropped an Apollo Conference match to Salem in volleyball action Tuesday evening. The Wildcats won 25-21, 25-19.

The Hearts were led by Chandler Ramey with seven kills, Felicia Totten with 18 assists, Madelin Mitchell with six digs and Shelby Nunamaker with four blocks. EHS is 6-4 in the conference, 17-11 overall.

In junior varsity play, Salem was a winner 22-25, 25-20, 25-18. The Wildcats also claimed the freshman contest 23-25, 25-21, 14-13.

At St. Elmo

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran picked up two wins in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament Tuesday evening.

Patoka won the opener over Ramsey 25-17, 25-13. Christ Our Rock Lutheran then downed Ramsey 25-14, 25-21 and won over Patoka 26-24, 25-19.

The tournament continues Thursday with Cowden-Herrick against Mulberry Grove at 6 p.m. followed by St. Elmo/Brownstown taking on Beecher City at 7 and Cowden-Herrick against Beecher City at 8. The finals are scheduled for Friday.

 

At Toledo

Marshall picked up a non-conference win over Cumberland Tuesday. The Lions won 25-16, 25-17.

Leading Cumberland were Lainey Jackson with six assists and five digs and Jade Hutchcraft and Makayla Sowers with two kills each. The Pirates drop to 8-15 on the season.

Windsor ended regular season play with a non-conference victory over Tuscola 25-18, 25-16. The Blue Devils were celebrating Senior Night.

Windsor was led by Autumn Bennett with three blocks, Bayleigh Tabor and Olivia Hortenstine with nine digs each, Claire Pfeiffer with 19 assists and Paige Woolard with 11 kills. The Blue Devils are now 22-7 on the season.
