COWDEN -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a National Trail Conference volleyball victory over Cowden-Herrick Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs lost the opener 25-23 but came back with 25-20 and 25-11 wins.

Jena Woltman and Megan Nuxoll had 12 digs each for the winners. Raven Rinker led in assists with 20. Nuxoll had 20 kills and two blocks. Emily Wortman led in aces with five.

In junior varsity competition, St. Anthony won 25-15, 25-15.

At Cowden

At Beecher City

Windsor came calling in a National Trail Conference match and won over Beecher City 25-8, 25-9.

Caitlin Sloan had four digs for Beecher City. Sarah Kirchhofer had two assists and two digs.

In the junior varsity match, Windsor won 25-11, 25-7.

The match went three games before Altamont pulled out a National Trail Conference win over Neoga, 14-25, 25-9, 25-14.

Laatsch had four kills for the winners. Higgs had three aces. Miller had two blocks. Winters led in digs with 14. Altamont is now 4-9 on the season.

At Charleston

Newton handed Charleston a loss at all three levels Tuesday evening. The Eagles won the varsity match 25-17, 18-25, 25-22, claimed a junior varsity contest 25-8, 15-25, 26-24 and won the freshman match 25-15, 25-18.

Litzelman had eight kills while Koebele had 28 assists. Ka. Hardiek and Kr. Hardiek had one ace each. Kr. Hardiek, Kline and Koebele had two blocks each. Cohorst, Johnson and Kline led in digs with 11 each.

At Charleston

At Teutopolis

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a victory over Teutopolis 25-21, 25-17 in a non-conference match.

"I made a few changes to the lineup tonight after our loss to T-town on Saturday," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We only had one practice to work on it so I was a little hesitant on how it would look but obviously it did. Becca and Kendall both had a strong match but Clara also helped us out on setting and did a great job."

Kendall Knop led the Comets in kills with eight and digs with nine. Becca Schlechte had five aces and eight assists.

T-town was a winner in the junior varsity match 25-14, 25-16. In freshman/sophomore play, the two squads split with T-town winning 25-22 and Stew-Stras winning 25-17.

Arcola defeated Cumberland in varsity action, 25-19, 25-21. Arcola is now 5-1 on the season while Cumberland drops to 1-9.

Skylar Brumelve led the Pirates in kills with four, aces with five and digs with seven. Lainey Jackson led in assists with eight.
