Dieterich, South Central Nab Volleyball Wins

BEECHER CITY -- Dieterich High School improved its record to 2-3 with a win over Beecher City in volleyball competition Monday evening.
The Movin' Maroons opened with a 25-18 win. Beecher City came back with a 25-23 victory sending the match into a third game. Dieterich then pulled out a 25-19 win.
Hannah Hunzinger and Emilee Flach had 11 points each while Lauren Garbe chipped in with 10. Flach had nine aces and eight kills. Mikayla Winters led in kills with 13. Garbe and Katlyn Lane had seven digs each. Hunzinger led in assists with 18. Winters had two blocks.
Beecher City was led by Caitlin Sloan and Sarah Kirchhofer with three aces each. Sloan had four kills and 13 digs. Kirchhofer had seven assists. Leah Kelly led in blocks with two.

At Altamont
South Central picked up a National Trail Conference varsity vicctory over Altamont in two games, 25-19, 25-23. The win gives the Cougars a 2-2 conference mark and a 3-5 overall record.
Deedra Schaal led in points with nine and aces with five. Maria Brasel had eight kills and 10 assists. Emily Chapman also had 10 assists.
Altamont won the junior varsity match 25-15, 9-25, 25-21. South Central won a freshman/sophomore contest 25-19, 11-25, 17-15.
Altamont drops to 0-2 in the conference, 3-9 overall.

Flora handed Cumberland a loss in two games, 25-9, 25-17. The Pirates drop to 1-8 on the season.
Leading Cumberland were Lainey Jackson with seven assists. Skylar Brumleve had three kills and four blocks.
Flora also nabbed the junoir varsity match 25-9, 25-22.
