Wheaton St. Francis Wins Gold Flight at Crossroads

The Crossroads Classic Volleyball Tournament took place last weekend at Effingham High School.

Competition in pool play took place Friday. Finals were contested Saturday. In the Gold Flight, Wheaton St. Francis came out the champion by beating Glenbard West, 25-18, 25-13. Henry Clay took third with a 13-25, 25-23, 25-21 win over Chatard. Fifth place went to McCracken Co. over Bloomington, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14. Centennial claimed seventh place by downing Mattoon, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23.

In Silver Flight, St. Louis Usurline won by downing Illiana Christian, 25-20, 20-25, 25-11. Third place went to Libertyville over Effingham, 25-19, 26-24. The fifth place match went to Normal U-High defeated Edwardsville, 25-14, 25-18. Chicago Payton took seventh place over Breese Central, 25-13, 25-22.

The Bronze Flight went to Naperville Central over Owensboro Catholic, 26-24, 25-12. Belleville Althoff downed Hermann for third place 25-12, 18-25, 18-16. Fifth place went to Whitney Young over Tri-County 25-15, 25-17. Teutopolis beat Steawrdson-Strasburg for seventh place 25-11, 19-25, 15-13.
