Altamont Finishes Eighth at Roxana VB Tourney. St. A Competes At Pana F/S Meet

ROXANA -- Altamont High School finished eighth in the Roxana Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
Mount Olive beat Altamont. The Indians won the opener 25-23 but Mount Olive came back with 26-24, 15-12 scores for the win. Laatsch led Altamont in kills with eight. Paguette had 10 assists. Winters had five digs. Wharton had four stuff blocks and Higgs had three aces.
Altamont then faced Gillespie for seventh place and fell in two games, 25-15, 26-24. Laatsch led in kills with six and had one stuff block. Paguette had 10 assists. Winters had four digs.

At Pana
Effingham St. Anthony competed in the Pana Freshman/Sophomore Tournament Saturday.
In the opener, the Bulldogs defeated Taylorvile 25-23, 25-18. Meridian then downed St. Anthony 27-25, 25-14. Pana won over the Bulldogs 23-25, 25-20, 15-7. St. Anthony finished with a loss to Argenta-Oreana 17-25, 25-17, 15-9.
