Cumberland Captures Regional Volleyball Title

ALBION -- Altamont Junior High School's hopes of a regional championship went by the wayside Thursday evening in the Class 7-2A Edwards County (Albion) Regional.
Host Edwards County downed Altamont in two sets, 25-12, 25-9. Edwards County now advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional Monday where it will take on Arthur at 6 p.m.
Class 7-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional
Cumberland captured the championship of the Robinson Nuttall Regional Thursday evening.
Cumberland handed Casey-Westfield a 25-12, 25-14 loss. Cumberland advances to its own sectional Monday to face Tuscola East Prairie at 6 p.m.
Tuscola East Prairie defeated Shelbyville Moulton 25-8, 26-24 to win its own regional Thursday.
Class 4A Champaign Jefferson Regional
Champaign Edison claimed the title of the Champaign Jefferson Regional. Edison downed Mahomet-Seymour 25-15, 25-20 Thursday evening.
Edison, 14-6, advances to meet Effingham, 22-4, Monday in the Mattoon Sectional at 6 p.m.
Class 1A West Salem Regional
Grayville was the winner of the West Salem Regional after beating the host school 25-15, 25-8 Thursday evening.
Grayville now advances to meet Stewardson-Strasburg Monday at the Stew-Stras Sectional at 6 p.m.
