EHS' Jacob Weaver, 4x800 Relay Team Advance To 3A State Boys Track Meet

RANTOUL -- Effingham High School will be represented by Jacob Weaver in the pole vault and the 3200 relay team at the Class 2A State Boys Track Meet after sectional competition at Rantoul High School Wednesday.

The Hearts' Weaver finished fourth but reached the state qualifying standard of 3.88 meters in the pole vault. 

The 3200 relay team of Adam Flack, Alex Gordon, Aaron Hill and Sam Spicer finished second with a time of 8:08.80 minutes to also head to State.

Mount Zion won the team championship with 75 points followed by St. Joseph-Ogden 74, Salem 62, Monticello 59, Tolono Unity 59, Urbana 53.5, Decatur MacArthur 49.5, Richland County (Olney) 49, Charleston 49, Rantoul 44, Effingham 35, Robinson 26, Decatur Eisenhower 24, Paris 22, Mattoon 16, Patoka 3 and Mount Carmel 2.

The first and second place finishers, along with any reaching State qualifying standards, advance to State.

The Class 2A/3A preliminaries will be held Friday, May 24. Those advancing from the preliminaries will compete Saturday, May 25 in the finals as all three classes will be competing.
