Area Boys Track Teams Headed To Sectionals Wednesday

Area high school boys are ready to head to track sectionals around the area Wednesday.

Effingham St. Anthony, Altamont, Brownstown'St. Elmo, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Cumberland, Dieterich, North Clay (Louisville), Neoga, Newton and Teutopolis are the local squads competing in the Class 1A Newton Sectional.

Other teams entered are Red Hill (Bridgepot), Casey-Westfield, Flora, Lawrenceville, Marshall, Hutsonville/Palestine/Oblong and Vandalia.

Field events are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with running events at 5:15.

Stewardson-Strasburg is the lone area team competing in the Class 1A Bethany Okaw Valley Regional along with Arcola, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Auburn, Bethany Okaw Valley, Cerro Gordo Co-op, Decatur St. Teresa, Macon Meridian, Moweaqua Central A&M, Niantic Sangamon Valley Co-op, Nokomis Pana, Pawnee Co-op, Riverton, Shelbyville, Sullivan, Tuscola and Villa Grove.

Field events are scheduled for 4 p.m. with running events to follow.

Effingham will take part in the Class 2A Rantoul Sectional. Teams entered include Charleston, Decatur Eisenhower, Decatur MacArthur, Mattoon, Monticello, Mount Carmel, Mount Zion, Richland County (Olney), Paris, Patoka Co-op, Rantoul, Robinson, Salem, St. Joseph-Ogden, Tolono Unity and Urbana.

The field events begin at 2:30 p.m. with the running events starting at 4 p.m.
