Hearts Second At Newton Eagle Boys Track Invitational

NEWTON -- Richland County (Olney) won the boys Eagle Track Invitational Friday at Newton High School with 88 points followed by Effingham 75.33, Newton 63, Robinson 61, Charleston 54, Fairfield 43, Mattoon 28, Altamont 27.33, Vandalia 25.33, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 22, Paris 20, Effingham St. Anthony 19, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 14, Brownstown/St. Elmo 9, Teutopolis 6 and Dieterich 3.

Effingham's Weldon Dunston picked up two victories. Dunston won the 100 in 11.41 seconds and the 200 in 22.86. Alex Gordon claimed first place in the 1600 for the Hearts in 4.44.38 minutes.

The Hearts 3200 relay team of Adam Flack, Gordon, Aaron Hill and Sam Spicer were winners in 8:25.69 minutes.

Adam Flack claimed a second place finish for EHS in the 800 in 2:06.35 minutes. The 800 relay team of DJ Latham, Andrew Lotz, Jacob Weaver and Dunston took second with a time of 1:33.58. Jacob Weaver finished in third place in the pole vault at 3.71 meters.

Newton's Parker Wolf won the 400 with a time of 50.83 seconds. Luke Weber claimed the 800 in 2:01.56 minutes. The 1600 relay team of Wolf, Weber, Jackson Sornberger and Tanner Whitaker won in 3:39.10 minutes. The Eagles' 1600 freshman/sophomore relay team also claimed first place with a time of 3:48.47 minutes. Members of the team were Matthew Haskett, Henry Will, Wade Ochs and Caleb Flasch.

Wade Wickham finished second in the pole vault at 3.86 meters. The 3200 relay team of Sornberger, Brock Probst, Whitaker and Hayden Borgic were second in 8:48.12. Evan Baltzell was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.90 and third in the 300 hurdles in 42.86

Altamont's Logan Duncan captured third place in the 100 in 11.52 seconds.

St. Anthony's Julius Ramos finished third in the 1600 in 4:45.30 minutes. The 3200 relay team of James Emmerich, Isaac Fallert, Julius Ramos and Noah Flaig finished third in 9:04.87.

Griffin Vaughn captured a third place finish for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in the 3200 in 10:07.28 minutes.
