Altamont, EHS Compete In Winston Brown Boys Track Invite

EDWARDSVILLE -- Altamont and Effingham High School competed in the Winston Brown Boys Track Invitational Saturday.

Edwardsville won the meet with 122 points followed by St. Louis University 108, Plainfield North 101, Mascoutah 77, O'Fallon 77, Chatham Glenwood 40, Freeburg 39, Collinsville 36, Tinley Park 35, Alton 35, Mount Vernon 29, Richland County 26.5, Mary Institute 26, Altamont 20, North Point 18, Salem 18, Cahokia 10, Carbondale 12, Plainfield North 9, Madison 5.5, Highland 5, Effingham 3, Streator 3 and Breese Central 2.

Altamont's Jacob Veteto captured second place in the pole vault at 13 feet, 1 3/4 inches. Ben Roedl took third place in the triple jump at 44 feet, 3 1/2 inches.

Effingham's top finisher was Alex Gordon in seventh place in the 1600 with a time of 5:08.74.
