Newton Second At Olney Girls Track Invitational

OLNEY -- Robinson High School claimed the team championship of the Olney Girls Track Invitational Thursday with 167 points.

Newton captured three individual first place finishes. Brooke Schafer won the shot with a throw of 33 feet, 11 3/4 inches. Camryn Martin claimed the pole vault at 10 ft. 6 inches while Karasyn Martin was second at 10-6. K. Martin finished second in the 300 hurdles in 52.94 seconds. Gracie Smithenry won the high jump at 4 ft. 11 3/4 in. and was third in the triple jump at 30-7 while teamamte Isabel Meinhart took fourth in 29-10 1/4.

The Eagles' Sydney Kinder was third in the 400 in 1:02.54 minutes, Shay Bennett was third in the 1600 in 6:11.66 and Layna Marshall took third in the 3200 in 14:32.09. Grace Schumacher was fourth in the 800 in 2:45.09. Morgan Schafer was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 18.09 and Sydney Kinder took fourth in the long jump at 14-7 1/4. Brooke Schafer was fourth in the discus at 91-1 3/4.

Newton finished first in the 800 relay in 1:55.63 minutes and was second in the 400 relay in 53.20 seconds. The Eagles took third in the 1600 in 4:25.63 and was third in the 3200 relay in 11:53.77.

Altamont's Gabby Weishaar was second in the 200 in 27.99 seconds. Abigail Weishaar finished third in the 400 in 1:03.45.

The Indians 400 relay team finished fourth in 54.52 and was fourth in the 1600 relay in 4:44.43.

North Clay's Karsyn Gaddy finished second in the discus with a throw of 93-8 3/4. Rayna  Persinger took third for North Clay in the 100 at 13.41 seconds. Sylvia Robey was third in the 100 hurdles in 18.09 and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 55.24. Avrie Persinger was fourth in the high junp at 4-8.
