Effingham Boys, Girls Compete At Apollo Track Invites

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham High School competed in the Apollo+Invitational Track Meet for boys and girls Saturday.

The Hearts' boys claimed two first place finishes in the meet. The 3200 relay team captured first with a time of 8:39.80 minutes.

Alex Gordon won the 1600 in 4:42.08 minutes.

Carter Ring took second in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 3/4 inches while teammate Brodie Belcher finished third with the same height. Ring had another second place finish in the shot with a throw of 47 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

Adam Flack and Jacob Weaver had a third place finish each. Flack took third in the 800 in 2:09.96 minutes and Belcher was third in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 3/'4 inches.

Fifth place finishes were by Weaver in the 60 meter dash in 7.41 seconds and in the 200 in 24.47.

In the girls meet, the 3200 relay team won in 10:32.20 minutes.

Second place finishes went to Baylee Summers in the 400 in 1:03.87 and the high jump at 4 feet, 9 inches. Jessica Larson was second in the 800 in 2:21.68. The 1600 relay team took second in 4:20.71 minutes.

Third went to Audrey Wagoner in the 3200 in 12:47.42. The 800 relay team finished fourth in 1:55.27.
