EHS Second At Boys Mount Zion Indoor Track Meet

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham High School captured second place in the boys portion of the indoor high school co-ed track meets at Mount Zion Saturday.

Cahokia won the boys meet with 184 points followed by Effingham 174, Champaign Central 137, Taylorville 98, Robinson 86, Lincoln 84, Carlinville 72, Springfield Lutheran 59, Effingham St. Anthony 56, Pekin 42, Glen Carbon Father McGivney 40, Piasa Southwestern 28, Mount Zion 10 and Dieterich 8.

Effingham's Weldon Dunston won the 60 meter dash in 7.36 seconds. Jacob Weaver was second for the Hearts in 7.42. Dunston also won the 200 meters in 24.23 while Weaver was also second in 24.87. Alex Gordon was second in the 1600 in 4:44.44 minutes. Sam Spicer was fourth in the 400 in 55.85. Aaron Hill took fifth in the 800 in 2:15.27.

Charlie Ring finished second in the shot with a throw of 13.43 meters. Brodie Belcher claimed second in the triple jump at 12.02 meters and third in the high jump at 1.80 meters. Weaver was second in the pole vault at 3.48 meters.

The Hearts finished fifth in the1600 relay in 3:52.62 minutes. Team members were Gordon, Gage Kinder, Hill and Spicer.

Effingham St. Anthony's 3200 relay team finished third in 9:11.17. Team members were James Emmerich, Elliott Frisbie, Noah Flaig and Julius Ramos.

Calvin Sudkamp finished second in the high jump at 1.80 meters.

Dieterich's Kaden Einhorn finished fifth in the 1600 with a time of 5:01.44 minutes.

In the girls meet, Cahokia was the team champion with 160 points followed by Glen Carbon Father McGivney 142, Urbana 116, Champaign Central 106, Effingham St. Anthony 92, Effingham 79, Robinson 79, Taylorville 74, Pleasant Plains 73, Lincoln 39, Springfield Lutheran 36, Carlinville 26, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 20, Sullivan 18, Piasa Southwestern 14, Wood River-East Alton 12 and Staunton 6.

St. Anthony's Isabella Keller won the 1600 with a time of 4:58.58 minutes and captured second place in the 800 in 2:19.81 minutes. Aubrey Denning finished second in the 400 in 1:03.05 minutes.

St. Anthony's Allison Geen finished tied for second in the pole vault at 3.03 meters. Grace Niebrugge was third in the triple jump at 9.06 meters.

Effingham's Jessica Larsen finished third in the 800 in 2:28.16 minutes. Baylee Summers captured fourth place in the 400 in 1:05.94.

Effingham's 3200 relay team finished second in 10:45.97 minutes. Team members were Morgan Springer, Summers, Anna Theis and Larsen. The 800 relay team took fouth in 4:28.46 minutes. Members of the team were Summers, Macy Kirk, Larsen and Haddie Hill.

Summers competed in the high jump and finished tied for fourth place with a height of 1.45 meters.
