EHS Boys, Girls Finish Third At Apollo Conference Track Meets

CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School finished third in both the boys and girls Apollo Conference Track Meets Thursday.

Mount Zion won the girls meet with 187.33 points followed by Mahomet-Seymour 128.5, Effingham 59.33, Taylorvilel 58, Mattoon 58.83, Lincoln 38 and Charleston 33.

The Hearts' 1600 relay team captured second place with a time of 4:17.15 minutes. Members of the team were Baylee Summers, Kayleigh Koester, Jessica Larsen and Haddie Hill.

The 3200 relay team of Morgan Springer, Summers, Hill and Larsen finished second in 10:21.16 minutes.

In the boys meet, Mahomet-Seymour and Mount Zion tied for first with 151 points each followed by Effingham 62, Charleston 58, Lincoln 53, Mattoon 50 and Taylorville 30.

Logan Heil was the lone EHS trackster to claim a first place finish. Heil won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.21 seconds. He took third in the 300 hurdles in 45.59.

The 800 relay team of Muhammad Freeman, Jacob Weaver, Weldon Dunston and Caden Walls finished second in 1:32.93 minutes.

The 3200 relay team of Garrett Wagoner, Alex Gordon, Adam Flack and Sam Spicer were third in 8:33.02 minutes.

The 400 relay team of Freeman, Walls, Weaver and Dunston were third in 44.14 seconds.
