EHS, Newton Tie For Second At Lady Eagles Track Invitational

NEWTON -- Robinson won the Newton Lady Eagles Track Invitational while Effingham and host Newton tied for second with 87 points each.

Teutopolis was fourth with 74 points followed by Fairfield 47, Mattoon 41.5, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 31, Olney (Richland County) 28, Mount Carmel 9.5, Red HIll (Bridgeport) 7 and Flora 6.

Newton had three first place finishes. Gracie Smtihenry won the high jump at 1.47 meters. Brooke Schafer captured the shot at 10.13 meters.

The 1600 relay team of Makayla McVicar, Elley Bennett, Sydney Kinder and Layna Marshall won in 4:20.51 minutes.

Jessica Larsen captured first and second for Effingham. Larsen won the 1600 in 5:53.82 minutes and claimed second in the 800 in 2:29.70.

The Hearts had numerous seconds, thirds and fourths in the meet.

T-town's Kaitlyn Vahling was a triple event winner. Vahling won the 100 in 12.12 seconds, the 200 in 26.08 and the 400 in 1:01.44 minutes.

The Wooden Shoes 400 relay team of Adi Davidson, Halle Bushue, Ella Neihls and Vahling won in 53.31 seconds.
