St. Anthony Wins Boys, Second In Girls Track Meets

SHELBYVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured first place in the boys meet and was second in the girls meet in track action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won with 84 points followed by Shelbyville 65 and Nokomis 5.

St. Anthony claimed 11 first place finishes in the meet, including three of the four relay events.

The Bulldogs won the 400 relay in 47.69 seconds. Team members were Adam Rudibaugh, Conlan Walsh, Luis Gonzalez and Max Sager. They also won the 1600 relay in 3:36.85 minutes. Giovanni Bucio, Walsh, Griffen Elder and Sager were members of the team. They claimed the 3200 relay in 8:33.03. Aidan Braunecker, Bucio, Elder and Julius Ramos were team members.

Nick Poston won two events for the Bulldogs. He claimed the discus with a throw of 32.13 meters and the shot at 11.44 meters.

Sager was a winner in the 400 in 53.23 seconds while teammate Aidan Braunecker was second in 54.61.

Elder won the 800 in 2:01.93 minutes while Bucio was second in 2:07.28 and James Emmerich third in 2:19.96. Ramos won the 1600 in 4:56.29. Elvin Martinez claimed the 3200 in 12:08.46 minutes.

Calvin Sudkamp won the high jump at 1.68 meters. The Bulldogs took the top four spots in the long jump as Rudibaugh won in 5.57 meters, Sudkamp was second at 5.18, Connor Croy third at 5.11 and Emmerich fourth at 5.08.

In the girls meet, Tuscola won with 48 points followed by St. Anthony 45, Shelbyville 43 and Nokomis 21.

St. Anthony's Mollie Slifer won the 3200 in 13:51.40 minutes. Liv Hoene was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 50.61 seconds.

Mary Scheidemantel won the high jump at 1.52 meters. Allison Geen was a winner in the pole vault at 3.35 meters.

The 400 relay team of Erin Stewart, Hoene, Anna Greene and Maggie Moeller won in 53.50. The 3200 relay team of Emma Helmink, Rilie Willenborg, Gracie Slifer and Jada Carpenter won in 12:42.41.
