St. Anthony Wins Boys, Girls Track Meets

Effingham St. Anthony played host to boys and girls track meets Monday and won both meets.

The Bulldogs captured the boys meet with 136 points followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 63, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 29 and Dieterich 14.

Three individuals claimed two first place finishes each for the Bulldogs. Max Sager won the 100 in 11.7 seconds and the pole vault at 2.74 meters.'

Ryan Powell captured the 400 in 56.9 seconds and the 800 in 2:30.2 minutes. Calvin Sudkamp won the high jump at 1.78 meters and the triple jump at 11.14 meters.

St. Anthony also won three hurdle events, the 400 in 50.5 seconds, the 800 in 1:48.8 minutes and the 1600 in 3:44.8.

Other first place finishes for St. Anthony included Luis Gonzalez in the 1600 in 5:35.8 minutes, Elvin Martinez in the 3200 in 11:43.1 and Conlan Walsh in the 300 hurdles in 45.3 seconds. St. Anthony nabbed two other field event first place finishes. Elliott Frisbie won the shot at 10.36 meters while Zack Hurren claimed the discus at 30.19 meters.

Dieterich's Jack Bloemer was a winner in the 200 in 25.0 seconds.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Lowell Wilhour took the 110 hurdles in 17.8 seconds. Christian Austin won the long jump at 4.91 meters.

The 3200 relay team captured the victory in 9:33.4 minutes.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony scored 127 followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 69.

St. Anthony's Maggie Moeller was a two-event winner. She captured the long jump at 4.39 meters and the triple jump at 9.40.

The Bulldogs won all four relay events, taknig the 400 in 55.4 seconds, the 800 in 1:55.0, the 1600 in 1:56.9 and the 3200 in 12:49.5.

Other first place finishes included Audrey LaSarge in the 400 in 1:12.0, Mollie Slifer in the 800 in 2:57.8, Stacie Vonderheide in the 1600 in 6:17.0, Gracie Slifer in the 3200 in 14;28.6, Liv Hoene in the 300 hurdles in 50.9 seconds and Allison Geen in the pole vault at 2.81 meters.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Sydney Stine and Presley Williams were double event winners. Williams won the 100 in 12.7 seconds and the 200 in 27.2. Stine won the shot at 8.90 meters and the discus at 30.18.

Other BSE winners were Katie Berner in the 100 hurdles in 17.8 seconds and Addie McWhorter in the high jump at 1.52 meters.
