Newton Second, T-town Fourth At Sam Bennett Track Invitational

ROBINSON -- Robinson High School won its own Sam Bennett Track Invitational Saturday.

The Maroons tallied 116.5 points followed by Newton 106.5, Shelbyville 80, Teutopolis 73, Glen Carbon Father McGivney 72, Olney 53, Marshall 48, Mount Carmel 34.5, Brownstown/St. Elmo 31, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 26, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 22, Cumberland 10, Altamont 9.5, Paris 9, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 5 and Neoga 3.

Teutopolis High School's Kaitlyn Vahling was a winner in three events. She captured the 100 in 12.21 seconds, the 200 in 25.83 and the 400 in 58.61. The 400 relay team of Adi Davidson, Halle Bushue, Ella Neihls and Vahling took second in 52.24. Kaela Neihls finished second in the triple jump at 32 feet, 11 inches.

The Wooden Shoes' Emma Bloemer was third in the 100 hurdles in 17.35.

The Newton 400 relay team of Makayla McVicar, Alaina Kuhl, Laney Hemrich and Morgan Schafer won in 52.13 seconds. The 800 relay team of Kuhl, Ella Radke, McVicar and Schafer finished second in 1:52.98.

The Eagles' Brooke Schafer won the shot with a throw of 35 feet, 10 1/2 inches. Hemrich captured second in the 200 in 26.71 and took third in the 100 in 12.88.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Kyleigh Wallace won the discus with a throw of 115 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Katie Berner finished second in the 300 hurdles in 49.81. Sydney Stine was third in the discus with a throw of 101 feet, 4 inches.

Brownstown's Addie McWhorter was second in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches while Newton's Gracie Smithenry placed third at 5-0.
