EHS Fifth, Sixth At Apollo Conference Track Meets

MAHOMET -- Effingham HIgh School competed in the Apollo Conference boys and girls track meets Thursday.

Mount Zion won the girls meet with 212 points followed by Mahomet-Seymour 104, Lincoln 68, Mattoon 61, Effingham 52, Charleston 36 and Taylorville 22.

Madison Pierce was the top finisher for the Hearts taking second in the 200 with a time of 28.23 seconds.

EHS also got two thirds in the meet. Taylor Greene finished third in the 100 hurdles in 20.17 seconds.

The 3200 relay team of Haddie Hill, Morgan Springer, Anna Theis and Jess Larsen finished third in 11:31.26 minutes.

In the boys meet, the Hearts were sixth. Winning the meet was Mount Zion with 158 followed by Mahomet-Seymour 112, Mattoon 90, Lincoln 78, Charleston 57, Effingham 39 and Taylorville 23.

The top finishes were second places by Caden Walls in the 200 in 24.38 seconds and Logan Heil in the 110 hurdles in 16.87 seconds. Walls finished third in the 100 in 12.07.

The 800 relay team of Muhammad Freeman, Ian Wagner, Jacob Weaver and Walls finished in 1:37.46 minutes for third.
