St. A Claims Championships of Boys, Girls NTC Track Meets

ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured both the boys and girls championships at the National Trail Conference Track Meets Tuesday at Altamont High School.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony was a winner with 170.5 points followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 101, Altamont 92, Neoga 70, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 46, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 20 and North Clay (Lousviille) 8.5.

The Bulldogs nabbed nine first place finishes in the meet, two of those by Maggie Moeller. Moeller was a winner in the 100 with a time of 13.6 seconds and claimed the triple jump with a leap of 9.25 meters.

Ada Rozene was a winner in the 800 with a personal record time of 2:40.8 minutes. Stacie Vonderheide claimed the 1600 with a time of 6:10.6 minutes. Emma Helmink captured the 3200 in 14:01.5 minutes.

The Bulldogs claimed three of the four relay events. The 400 relay team of Erin Stewart, Moeller, Grace Niebrugge and Anna Greene won in 55.28 seconds. The 1600 relay team of Vonderheide, Taylor Miller, Helmink and Rozene won in 4:43.55 minutes. The 3200 relay team of Rozene, Rilie Willenborg, MIller and Vonderheide claimed the win in 11:40.59 minutes.

"Ada ran a personal record 1:05.95 leg in the 1600 relay," said St. Anthony Coach Randy Blake. "We also had several second and third place efforts tonight. Great job by everyone."

Allison Geen was the lone Bulldog to claim a field event. Geen won the pole vault at 3.05 meters.

Altamont's Grace Nelson was a champion in three events. She won the 200 in 26.8 seconds, the 100 hurdles in 14.5 and the 300 hurdles in 44.9.

Brownstown/St. Elmo finished second as a team. Addie McWhorter was a winner in the high jump at 1.52 meters. Cordelia Lytle claimed the 400 in 1:06.1 minutes.

BSE also was a winner in the 800 relay in 1:59.15 minutes. Team members were Lytle, Emma McNabb, Julia Perri and Laney Baldrige.

Windsor/Stewarsdon-Strasburg's Emma Garrett claimed the long jump with a leap of 4.33 meters.

Neoga's Haylee Campbell won the shot with a heave of 9.61 meters.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Kyliegh Wallace took first in the discus with a throw of 31.17 meters.

In the boys meet, the Bulldogs claimed the boys meet with 191 points followed by Altamont 152, Neoga 81, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 68, Brownstown/St. Elmo 16, Dieterich 11, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 10 and North Clay (Louisville) 3.

Thirty points for the Bulldogs came from Griffen Elder. Elder captured three victories taking the 800 in 2:06.9 minutes, the 1600 in 5:08.8 and the 3200 in 11:10.0.

Max Sager claimed two wins. Sager took the pole vault at 3.05 meters and the 400 with a time of 52.6 seconds.

Other individual first place finishes came from Conlan Walsh in the 300 hurdles in 46.0 seconds and Kevin Gonzalez in the triple jump with a jump of 11.04 meters.

The Bulldogs were winners in two relay events, taking the 1600 in 3:45.58 and the 3200 in 9:27.52. Members of the 1600 were Jacob Boyajian, Elliott Frisbie, Walsh and Griffen. Members of the 3200 were Giovanni Bucio, James Emmerich, Frisbie and Walsh.

Fifty of Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's 68 points came from two athletes. Jadon Robertson, a senior, won the high jump at 1.98 meters, the long jump at 6.97 and the 110 hurdles in 14.6 seconds. Daniel Lucas captured the shot with a throw of 18.05 meters and won the discus with a heave of 43.30 meters.

The other eight points for the Bobcats came from Zander Merryfield who finshed second in the 800 in 2:20.9.

Altamont won two relay events and Xander Moschenrose was a winner in two races. Moschenrose won the 100 in 11.4 seconds and the 200 in 23.6 seconds.

The 400 relay team of Moschenrose, Noah Klimpel, Devon Sloan and Logan Duncan won in 46.52 seconds. The 800 relay team of Garrett Schultz, Duncan, Moschenrose and Daniel McCammon won in 1:44.40.
