St. Anthony Wins Boys Track Meet, Girls Finish Second

Effingham St. Anthony won a boys duo track meet while the girls finished second in a triangular meet Tuesday.

In the boys meet, the Bulldogs claimed seven individual first place finishes and won two relay events, finishing with 90.5 points to win over Shelbyville with 85.5

Griffen Elder picked up two victories. He claime dthe 1600 in 4:45.2 minutes and the 3200 in 10:09.8.

Conlan Walsh took the 300 hurdles in 45.4 seconds.

The Bulldogs claimed four field events. Ivan Dong won the shot with a heave of 41 feet, 7 1/2 inches. Taylor Smith was a winner in the discus at 131 feet.

Calvin Sudkamp claimed the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches. The triple jump went to Kevin Gonzalez at 35 feet, 6 inches.

The Bulldogs were winners in the 1600 relay in 3:40.3 minutes. Team members were Max Sager, Elder, Walsh and Giovanni Bucio.

St. Anthony also won the 3200 relay in 9:22.2. Bucio, Aidan Braunecker, Walsh and James Emmerich were on the team.

In the girls meet ,Shelbyville was the team winner with 65.5 followed by St. Anthony 57.5 and Tuscola 40.

The Bulldogs had three individual wins and a relay victory.

Evie Strullmyer won the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches. Grace NIebrugge won the triple jump with a leap of 30 feet. Maggie Moeller was a winner in the 100 in 13.0 seconds.

The Bulldogs won the 1600 relay in 4:52.9 minutes. Team members were Stacie Vonderheide, Taylor Miller, Emma Helink and Ada Rozene.
