St. Anthony Competes At Sullivan Quad Track Meet

SULLIVAN -- Effingham St. Anthony High School competed in the boys and girls Sullivan Quadrangular Track Meets Tuesday.

In the boys meet, St. Anthony finished third. Sullivan won with 93.5 points followed by Tuscola 92.5, St. Anthony 56 and Cerro Gordo-Bement 25.

Max Sager had a good meet for the Bulldogs. Sager won the 200 with a time of 24.37 seconds, claimed first in the 400 in 52.84 and was second in the 100 in 12.25.

Griffen Elder claimed first in the 800 with a time of 2:16.00 minutes. Conlan Walsh finished first in the 300 hurdles with a time of 45.91 seconds.

The 3200 relay team of Elder, Aidan Braunecker, Giovanni Bucio and Conlan Walsh won with a time of 9:27.69 minutes.

In the girls meet, Cerro Gordo-Bement won with 69 points followed by Sullivan 68, Tuscola 67 and St. Anthony 58.

The Bulldogs had three first place finishes in the meet. Stacie Vonderheide was the winner in the 1600 in 6:25 minutes followed by teammate Emma Helmink second in 6:57.00.

The 3200 relay team of Ada Rozene, Taylor Miller, Helmink and Vonderheide took first in 12:16.71 minutes.

The high jump went to Evie Strullmyer with a leap of 1.52 meters. Second place went to Mary Scheidemantel at 1.42 meters.
