St. Anthony Boys, Girls Finish Second At Five-Team Track Meets

ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed second place in both boys and girls track competition Monday.

In the boys meet, Robinson was the winner with 134 points followed by St. Anthony 85.5, Oblong 20.5, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 19 and Palestine 18.

The Bulldogs had seven first place finishes in the boys meet. Max Sager captured the 400 meters finals with a time of 52.6 seconds. In the 800 meters, Giovanni Bucio won with a time of 2:24.9 minutes. Griffin Elder captured the 1600 in 5:02.0 minutes. In the 300 hurdles, Conlan Walsh was a winner in 45.8 seconds.

The 1600 relay team of Jacob Boyajian, Walsh, Bucio and Sager won in 3:55.9 minutes. The 3200 relay team of James Emmerich, Aidan Braunecker, Bucio and Walsh won in 9:40.8 minutes.

Taylor Smith claimed the discus with a throw of 118 feet, 4 1/2 inches.

In the girls meet, Robinson was the winner with 103 points followed by St. Anthony 73,  Red Hill (Bridgeport) 37.5, Palestine 15.5 and Oblong 12.

The Bulldogs had three first place finishes in the meet.

Evie Strullmyer won the 100 meter hurdles in 17.9 seconds. Strullmyer also claimed the high jump at 5 feet.

Maggie Moeller was a winner in the triple jump with a leap of 29 feet, 9 inches.
