T-town Girls Win Olney Invite; Area Track Roundup

OLNEY -- Teutopolis High School claimed the championship of the Olney Girls Track Invitational Monday evening.
The Wooden Shoes tallied 140 points followed by Mount Carmel 109, Olney 105, Flora 80, Casey-Westfield 59, Lawrenceville 38 and Fairfield 24.
The Shoes had four first place finishes, five seconds, four thirds, five fourths, fourth fifths and eight sixths.
Winning for T-town were Hartke who claimed the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches, Schnabel who won the discus with a throw of 80 feet, 9 inches, M. Schmidt who won the triple jump at 31 feet and R. Westendorf who claimed the pole vault at 10 feet.

Newton Wins Triangular
Newton High School won both a boys and a giris triangular meet at St. Anthony Tuesday.
Newton won the boys meet with 65 points followed by St. Anthony 63 and Cowden-Herrick 36.
The Eagles picked up eight victories. Davidson captured two victories with the triple jump in 40 feet and the long jump at 19 feet, 3 inches. Tolliver won the pole vault at 11 feet. Flowers claimed the shot with a throw of 34 feet, 11 1/2 inches. Stone won the 400 in 55.7 seconds.
Newton claimed the 1600 relay in 4:13 minutes, the 800 in 1:41.7 and the 400 in 45.95 seconds.
In girls action, Newton was the winner with 97 points followed by St. Anthony 50 and Cowden-Herrick 16.
The Eagles captured 11 first place finishes. Wirth won the discus and the shot while Barthelme claimed the 100 hurdles and the long jump at 15 feet, 6 inches. Mammoser also was a double winner taking the 100 in 11.47 seconds and the 200.

At Teutopolis
Mattoon came calling and claimed triangular boys and girls meet victories over Teutopolis and St. Elmo Tuesday.
In the girls meet, Mattoon won with 86 points followed by Teutopolis 75 and St. Elmo 16. In the boys meet, Mattoon claimed the meet with 88 points followed by Teutopolis 80 and St. Elmo 9.
"We had great performances from Kyle Blievernicht and Rourke Schultz," said T-town Coach Connie Deters. "They ran great splits in the relays and individual events. It was a very exciting meet. Mattoon beat us by one step on Friday also.
"Cody Heuerman had good jumps in the triple and long. We had a great throw from Jacob Schumacher in the discus. Riley Drees ran very well in the 300 hurdles. Rourke Schultz is very consistent and getting better. In the 110 hurdles it was a great experience for my freshmen/sophomores.

At Highland
Effingham competed in the Highland Freshman/Sophomore Invitational Tuesday.
Ben Percival claimed four medals, taking fourth in the 200, fourth in the 800 relay, sixth in the 400 relay and seventh in the 100. Sean Zerrusen, Colin Hecht and Zach Miller had three medals each. Zerrusen took third in the 1600 relay, sixth in the 400 and sixth in the 400 relay. Hecht had a second place finish in the 300 hurdles, third in the 110 hurdles and third in the 1600 relay. Miller competed on three relay teams, the 400 which got sixth, the 800 which got fourth and the 1600 which got third.
