Newton Wins Own Boys Track Invitational

NEWTON -- Newton High School won its own Eagle Boys Track Invitational Tuesday.

The Eagles tallied 101 points followed by Altamont 96.5, Olney 75, Robinson 72, Flora 49, Effingham St. Anthony 42, Cumberland 37, Effingham 31, Palestine/Hutsonville 24.5, Brownstown/St. Elmo 16, Neoga 8 and Dieterich 2.

Newton claimed five first place finishes in the meet. Jacob Wickham was a winner in two of those as he took the shot with a throw of 13.55 meters and the discus at 40.57 meters.

Nick Zwilling claimed the 1600 with an impressive time of 4:42.78 minutes closely followed by St. Anthony's Noah Tegeler in 4:43.92.

Parker Wolf was a winner in the 400 with a time of 52.05 seconds.

The Eagles 400 relay team of Evan Schafer, Isaac Flowers, Wolf and Evan Baltzell won in 45.63 seconds.

Second place Altamont had four champions. Xander Moschenrose picked up two of those victories. Moschenrose won the 100 in 11.71 seconds and the 200 in 23.40.

Tristan Rhodes claimed the 300 hurdles in 44.32 seconds. The 1600 relay team of Kolby Brewer, Sam Mathesius, Tucker Short and Derick Budde won in 3:44.67 minutes.

Effingham St. Anthony's 3200 relay team was a winner in 8:40.57. Members of the team were Ty Wiedman, Conlan Walsh, Griffin Edler and Noah Tegeler.
