EHS Downs St. Anthony in Girls, Boys Track Action

Effingham High School claimed both a boys and a girls track meet over Effingham St. Anthony Monday evening.

In the boys meet, the Hearts won 85-42. EHS had 12 first-place finishes in the meet led by Clark Williamson with three victories. Williamson claimed the triple jump at 39 feet, 10 1/2 inches, the pole vault at 12 feet and the 110 hurdles in 16.55 seconds.

EHS also swept through all three relay events, taking the 1600 in 4:06.91 minutes, the 400 in 46.01 and the 800 in 1:40.67.

St. Anthony was led by Andrew Gardewine with two wins. Gardewine claimed the 400 in 55.03 seconds and the 3200 in 10:52.78 minutes.

In the girls meet, Effingham picked up 12 first place wins with Braunecker capturing two wins. Braunecker claimed the 100 in 13.37 seconds and the 200 in 28.01.

The Hearts also nabbed three relay events, taking the 800 in 2:00.01, the 1600 in 4:42.9 and the 3200 in 11:00.66.

The Bulldogs had four individual wins and picked up the 400 relay in 56.25.
