Newton Captures Olney Boys Track Invite

OLNEY -- Newton High School captured the championship of the Olney Boys Track Invitational Friday while Altamont finished second.

The Eagles tallied  124 points followed by Altamont 111, Olney 89, Mattoon 71, Charleston 68, Effingham St. Anthony 60, Fairfield 52,  Flora 51, Effingham 41 and Paris 32.

Newton captured four first place finishes in the meet. The 400 relay team won in 45.13 seconds.

Individually, Nick Zwilling won the 3200 in 10:54.73 minutes. Owen Mahaffey was a winner in the 800 with a time of 2:08.95. Evan Baltzell won the 300 hurdles in 45.11 seconds.

Altamont had two champions. Tucker Short in the 400 in 52.63 seconds and Xander  Moschenrose in the 200 in 23.46.

St. Anthony's 1600 relay team captured first place in 3:44.97 minutes. The 3200 relay team claimed second in 8:41.90. 

Drew Blacker captured third for the Hearts with a time of 13.03 seconds. Logan Heil took third in the 300 hurdles in 47.08 and fourth in the 110 hurdles in 18.22.
