St. Anthony Claims Boys, Girls Track Meets

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Altamont, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Dieterich in boys track and Altamont, CHBC and North Clay (Louisville) in girls track Tuesday.

The Bulldogs came out the winner in the boys quadrangular with 116 points followed by Altamont 73, CHBC 21 and Dieterich 7.

St. Anthony captured all four relay events, the 3200 in 9:11.8 minutes, the 400 in 48.62 seconds , the 800 in 1:47 minutes and the 1600 in 4:01.9 minutes.

Conlan Walsh claimed the 3200 in 11:31.5 minutes. Ty Wiedman won the 800 in 2:14 and Mick Willenborg took the 400 in 55.4 seconds. Noah Tegeler was a winner in the 1600 in 4:56.3.

Taylor Smith won the discus with a throw of 136 feet, 5 inches.

Zander Moschenrose and Derek Budde were double event winners for Altamont. Moschenrose claimed the 100 in 11.52 and the 200 in 23.37.

Budde picked up the pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches and the triple jump at 36-10.

Tristan Rhodes won the 300 hurdles in 45.12.

Jayden Robertson was a winner in two events for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. Robertson won the 110 hurdles in 15.6 seconds and the long jump at 20 feet, 5 inches. Daniel Lues took the shot with a throw of 48-8 1/2.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony opened the season with a victory in a four team meet with Altamont, CHBC, and North Clay (Louisville).

"We won eight events," said Coach Randy Blake. "Sydney Kibler won two events, the discus with a 101'6" throw and the shot put with a throw of 31'1". Stacie Vonderheide also won two events, the high jump clearing a height of 4'10", and the 1600 in a time of 6:10.8.

"Allison Geen won the pole vault with a 9'6" jump. Evie Strullmyer won the 400 with a 1:32 time. Maggie Moeller won the 100 with a time of 13.62. And our 4x200 relay team of Maggie Moeller, Grace Niebrugge, Allison Geen and Erin Stewart won with a time of 2:09. Good job ladies."

Grace Nelson claimed four victories for Altamont. Nelson won the 200 in 27.37, the long jump at 18-1, the 100 hurdles in 15.25 and the 300 hurdles in 45.12.

Makena Carter was a winner for North Clay in the 3200 in 14:54.25.

Sidney Lorton was a winner for CHBC in the 800 in 2:41.45.
