EHS Captures Boys, Girls Track Wins

Effingham High School won both a boys and a girls triangular track meet Tuesday evening.

In the girls meet, the Hearts tallied 84 1/2 points followed by St. Anthony 68 1/2 and Teutopolis 33.

The Hearts captured two relay victories, the 3200 in 10:49.92 minutes and the 1600 in 4:33.06.

Nine different individuals claimed wins. Niebrugge won the 400 in 1:05.05 minutes. Steppe claimed the 300 hurdles in 50.64 seconds. Bingham crossed the line in the 1600 in 5:54.25. Rivera won the 100 in 13.55 seconds and Keck claimed the 200 in 29.73.  The 800 went to Phillips in 2:40.66.

In the field events, Michael won the discus with a throw of 92 feet, 5 inches, Moore won the long jump at 14-6 1/2 and Green took the triple jump at 31-0.

Teutopolis nabbed two relay events, the 400 in 54.06 and the 800 in 1:55.87. M. Drees won the 100 hurdles in 17.07, Westendorf the pole vault at 9-6, A. Hartke the high jump at 5-2 and A. Platz the shot at 33-8.

St. Anthony had one victory, Carson Fonner in the 3200 in 13:05.3.

Boys Meet

Effingham claimed the boys meet with 104 1/2 points followed by St. Anthony 53 1/2 and Teutopolis 26.

Eleven individuals and a relay team put together first-place finishes for the Hearts. The 800 relay team won in 1:35.61 minutes.

Fatheree was a winner in the 3200 with a time of 10:04.7 and Siner took the 800 in 2:16.1. Williamson captured the 110 hurdles in 16.62 seconds while Hecht claimed the 300 hurdles in 44.18. Vaughn won the 100 in 11.82 and Howell captured the 200 in 23.81.

Effingham swept the field events. Niebrugge won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches. Boggs was a winner in the shot with a throw of 37-3 1/2. Levi took the discus with a distance of 126-10. Nishada claimed the long jump at 20-8 and Lasher won the triple jump at 39-4.

Teutopolis claimed two relay events, taking the 3200 in 9:15.9 and the 1600 in 3:40.47. Blievernicht won the 400 in 54.51 seconds and Kowalski nabbed the pole vault at 12 feet, 6 inches.

St. Anthony was a winner in two events. The Bulldogs claimed the 400 relay in 49.69 seconds and Gardewine won the 1600 in 5:01.58 minutes.
