T-town, Newton Nab Cross Country Wins

NEWTON -- Newton High School claimed the girls cross country meet while Teutopolis won the boys meet Tuesday.

Newton tallied 31 points followed by Teutopolis 37 and Neoga 52. Newton's Abby Stone was the winner with a time of 18:08. Others scoring for the Eagles were Rylea Borgia third in 18:57, Claire Carr 11th in 21:10, Lucy Yager 12th in 21:17 and Taylor Slough 13th in 2:32.

In the boys meet, Teutopolis won with 33 points followed by Newton 33, Neoga 72, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 89 and Dieterich 98. Lawrenceville and Flora had runners but did not score.

Flora's Isaac Stanford won with a time of 14:56. Nick Zwilling set a new sophomore record at Newton with a time of 14:57 for second.
