Area Competitors Set For State Boys Track Meets

Area boys will be heading to the Class 1A and Class 2A State Track Meets Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium.

The local area will be well represented with tracksters from Effingham St. Anthony, Altamont, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Cumberland, Neoga, Newton and Teutopolis in Class 1A and Effingham in Class 2A.

The Class 1A preliminaries will take place Thursday with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and running events at 11 a.m.

Following is a list of the Class 1A participants from the area:

400 Relay -- Newton (Payton Birch, Adam Bridges, Jerald Eckl, Trenton Hance)

1600 Relay -- Cumberland (Wyatt Brant, Myles Gerhardt, Blake Sutherland, Rayce Zike)

3200 Relay -- St. Anthony (Ty Wiedman, Brian Dust, Noah Tegeler, Ollie Kingery)

200 -- Jack Elder (St. Anthony)

400 -- Myles Gerhardt (Cumberland)

800 -- Brian Dust (St. Anthony), Braden Cox (Neoga)

110 Hurdles -- Jack Elder (St. Anthony), Jadon Robertson (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City)

300 Hurdles -- Jack Elder (St. Anthony)

Long Jump -- Dylan Webster (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City)

Triple Jump -- Dylan Webster (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City)

Pole Vault -- Tim Moore (Altamont), Donovan Delaney (Altamont)

Shot -- Joe Kingery (Teutopolis)

Discus -- Joe Kingery (Teutopolis), Jared Kollman (Altamont)

One representative will compete in the Class 2A State Track Meet with preliminaries Friday. Effingham High School's Clayton Cramsey will run in the 400 which is set for approximately 11 a.m. Friday. The Class 3A State Meet prelims are also Friday.

The finals are scheduled for all three classes Saturday with the Parade of Competitors at 9:15 a.m. and Opening Ceremonies at 9:30. The first events, both field and running, will start at 10 a.m.
