CHBC Wins Boys, Girls NTC Track Meets

ALTAMONT -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City High School claimed both the boys and girls championships of the National Trail Conference Track Meets Tuesday.
In the girls meet, CHBC won with 210 points followed by Effingham St. Anthony 149, Altamont 77, Neoga 57, Brownstown/St. Elmo 20 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 2.
Tatyana Duckwitz was the queen of the meet with four victories for CHBC. Duckwitz claimed the long jump at 16 feet, 11 inches. She also won the 100 in 12.85 seconds, the 200 in 27.13 and the 400 in 1:06.61 minutes.
Jaelyn Robertson was a two-event winner for the Bobcats. Robertson captured the triple jump at 33 feet, 2 1/4 inches. She also claimed first place in the 100 hurdles in 15.93 seconds.
Paige McKittrick was a winner in the shot with a heave of 28 feet, 9 inches. Carsen Burks went over the pole vault bar at 8 feet for the win.
St. Anthony claimed all four relay events, taking the 3200 in 11:00.09 minutes, the 400 in 55.25, the 800 in 1:56.23 and the 1600 in 4:29.32. Members of the 3200 were Riley Guy, Jessica Wilson, Ada Rozene and Sarah Carr. The 400 team members were Abigail Cothran, Peyton Ellis, Reagan Westendorf and Macy Ludwig. The 800 members were Ellis, Westendorf, Ludwig and Wilson. The 1600 members were Evie Strullmyer, Ludwig, Wilson and Carr.
The Bulldogs also had three individual firsts, Sarah Carr in the 800 with a time of 2:24.97, Ada Rozene in the 1600 in 6:15.94 and Avery Rogers in the discus with a throw of 88-2.
Two Altamont competitors took first. Rachel Jackman won the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches while Gia Sandoval was a winner in the 3200 in 13:50.78.
Brownstown St. Elmo's Claire Wilhour won the 300 hurdles in 49.47 seconds.
In the boys meet, CHBC was the team winner with 170 points followed by St. Anthony 160, Altamont 96, Brownstown/St. Elmo 52, Neoga 36 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 20.
Dylan Webster picked up three wins for the champions. He claimed the long jump at 20 feet, 8 inches, the 100 in 11.14 seconds and the 200 in 23.26.
Jadon Robertson won the triple jump with a leap of 38 feet.
St. Anthony was a winner in all four relay events just like the girls. The 3200 team of Ty Wiedman, Ollie Kingery, Moises Lemus and Noah Tegeler won in 8:56.86. The 400 team of Drew Dust, Mick Willenborg, Logan Antrim and Kennan Walsh won in 47.75. The 800 team of Dust, Willenborg, Wiedman and Kingery won in 1:40.43 and the 1600 team of Brian Dust, Wiedman, Walsh and Willenborg won in 3:44.24.
Individual firsts for the Bulldogs came from Jack Elder with two, the 300 hurdles in 42.67 and the 110 hurdles in 15.90 and Kennan Walsh in the 400 in 53.86.
Altamont's firsts came from Jared Kollman in the discus with a throw of 135 feet, Tim Moore in the pole vault at 14-0 and Derick Budde in the 1600 in 4:52.75.
Brownstown/St. Elmo's Jacob Baron won the shot with a throw of 44 feet, 2 inches while Jace McWhorter was a winner in the high jump at 6-2.
Neoga had two first place finishes, both from Braden Cox who won the 3200 in 10:25.03 and the 800 in 2:09.09.
