Olney Nabs Newton Eagles Invitational, EHS First At Greenville

NEWTON -- Olney High School claimed the championship of the Newton Eagles Boys Track Invitational Friday.

The Tigers tallied 90 points followed by Vandalia 63, Robinson 59, Effingham St. Anthony 56, Mattoon 56, Fairfield 45, Charleston 45, Effingham 42, Teutopolis 33, Newton 29, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 28, Paris 21, Shelbyville 20, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 18 and Altamont 15.

St. Anthony claimed two first place finishes in relay events. The Bulldogs captured the 800 in 1:39.85 minutes and the 1600 in 3:43.12.

Effingham's Clayton Cramsey captured the 400 with a time of 52.83 seconds and also won the 200 in 23.24. Tristin Duncan, a sophomore, won the 100 in 11.31 seconds.

T-town's Joe Kingery won the discus with a throw of 173 feet, 7 inches and also claimed the shot with a heave of 47 feet, 2 inches.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Dylan Webster won the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 8 inches.

At Greenville

Effingham competed in the Greenville Invitational for boys and girls Friday.

In the girls meet, Effingham was the team champion with 90 points followed by Highland 77, Troy Triad 73, Carlinville 46, Greenville 24, Breese Central 23 and Litchfield 6.

Effingham's Beck claimed the hurdles with a time of 17.5 seconds and teammate Jamison took second n 18.6. Kirk was a winner for the Hearts in the 1600 in 5:57.5 minutes.

In the boys meet, Effingham won the team title with 100 points followed by Troy Triad 86, Greenville 55, Litchfield 33, Highland 26, Carlinville 22 and Breese Central 17.

Effingham's Dillow was a winner in the hurdles with a time of 18.54 seconds while teammate Heil was second in 19.1. Westendorf won the 1600 in 5:08.3 minutes.

The Hearts took first in the 8th 4x1 in 51.6 seconds and won the Thrower's with a time of 58.7 seconds.
