EHS Wins Boys, Girls Track Meets

Effingham High School picked up victories in both boys and girls track meets Tuesday.

The Hearts won the girls meet with 72 points followed by Charleston 62 and Altamont 26.

Effingham finished with eight first places. N. Carie claimed the triple jump at 30 feet, 6 1/2 inches and the 200 in 28.87 seconds. Duncan won the shot with a throw of 30 feet, 5 1/2 inches. Fox claimed the pole vault at 8 feet. Garrett won the 1600 in 5:41.97 minutes while Weaver claimed the 3200 in 13:17.90 minutes

The Hearts also won three of the four relay events, taking the 400 in 52.45 seconds, the 1600 in 4:29.35 and the 3200 in 12:04.50.

Jackman picked up the high jump win for Altamont with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches.

In the boys meet, Effingham was a winner with 81 points followed by Altamont 39.

The Hearts swept all four relay events, taking the 400 in 45.56 seconds, the 800 in 1:39.45, the 1600 in 4:02.23 and the 3200  in 9:31.88.

Duncan was a triple event winner for the Hearts. Duncan won the long jump at 19 feet, 3 inches, the 100 in 11.51 seconds and the 200 in 24.31. Lewis captured two events, winning the 100 hurdles in 17.54 and the 300 hurdles in 45.71. Cramsey also was a winner in two events, taking the high jump at 5-8 and the 400 in 52.73.

Other individual winners for the Hearts were Barnes in the shot with a throw of 41-2 and Lopez in the 3200 in 11:42.7.

Winning for the Indians were Jackson in two events, taking the 800 in 2:23.44 and the 1600 in 5:16.09. Kollman won the discus at 137-8, Moore the pole vault at 13-0 and Delaney the triple jump at 35-11.
