St. A Captures Boys Track Meet, Second In Girls Meet

Effingham St. Anthony hosted a boys and girls track meet Monday.

The Bulldogs won the boys triangular meet with 96 points followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 47 and Neoga 21.

St. Anthony captured 11 first place finishes in the 18 events. The Bulldogs won all four relay races, claiming the 400 with a time of 51.29 seconds, the 200 in 1:38 minutes, the 1600 in 3:48 and the 3200 in 9:01.43.

Elder claimed two wins for the Bulldogs, taking the 200 in 23.69 seconds and the 100 hurdles in 16.20.

Other first place finishes were Tegeler in the 1600 in 5:26, D. Dust in the long jump at 16 feet, 6 1/2 inches, Wiedman in the triple jump at 33-10, Scheidemantel in the 3200 in 12:32, and B. Dust in the 400 in 56.96.

McWhorter claimed two wins for Brownstown/St. Elmo, taking the high jump at 5-8 and the 300 hurdles in 46.40. Other firsts came from Baron in the shot with a throw of 42-3, Smith in the discus at 121-3, Figgins in the 100 in 12.30 and Kline in the 800 in 2:13.

Dietz captured the pole vault at 11-6.

In the girls meet, Okaw Valley won with 132 points followed by St. Anthony 119, Neoga 24, Brownstown/St. Elmo 24 and North Clay 9.

St. Anthony had winners in five events. The Bulldogs won the 1600 relay in 4:31 minutes. Ludwig claimed the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches. Niebrugge was a winner in the triple jump at 28-0. Carr was a winner in the 800 in 2:31.51 and the Bulldogs captured the 800 relay in 1:58.

Wilhour was a triple event winner for Brownstown/St. Elmo taking the long jump at 14-5 1/2, the 100 hurdles in 16.37 and the 300 hurdles in 47.84.

North Clay's Carter won the 3200 in 14:32 minutes.
