Carr Third at SIU Meet, EHS Competes At Apollo Indoor Meet

CARBONDALE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School's Sarah Carr captured third place at the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Indoor Girls Track Meet Friday.

Carr took third in the 800 with a time of 2:33.31. Carr also competed on the 1600 relay team along with Ada Rozene, Evie Strullmyer and Jessica Wilson. The squad finished 14th overall in 4:44.74 minutes but had only one Class 1A school finish ahead of them.

Wilson won her heat in the 400 and then finished 16th overall with a time of 1:07.26. Strullmyer also ran the 400 with a time of 1:09.79.

Rozene competed in the 1600 and finished with a time of 6:40.56.

 

At Mount Zion

Effingham competed in the Apollo Conference Boys and Girls Indoor Track Meets Saturday.

Kaleb Kihne captured first place for the Hearts in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.66 seconds. Teammates Clayton Cramsey took second in 54.73 and Zeel Patel fourth in 58.89.

Lewis Holden took second in the 60 meter hurdles in 10.09 seconds.

Holden, Kihne, Cramsey and Patel finished second in the 1600 relay with a time of 3:47.43 minutes.

Gunner Franklin finished second for the Hearts in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 5 3/4 inches.

Matthew Hites was third in the shot with a throw of 40 feet, 2 inches while teammates Nathan Barnes took sixth at 38-3 3/4, Hayvin Prather 12th at 33-5 and Alex Baughman 15th at 28-9.

Nathan Shackelford finished fourth in the 200 in 26.02 seconds while teammates Jett Gillum was sixth in 26.16 and Franklin finished eighth in 26.79.

Other finishes were: Schackelford, seventh, 60 yard dash, 7.83 sec.; Trevon Bonavides, seventh, long jump, 17 ft. 3 in.; Gabe Kihne, long jump, 12th, 16-6 1/2; Zac Slifer, 16th, 1600 meter run, 5:49.56; Peyton Simmons, 22nd, 1600 meter run, 6:32.27.

In the girls meet, Kiyah Kuhlman captured first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.59 seconds.

Kiley Weaver captured third place in the 3200 meter run in 13:49.59.

Fourth place finishes went to Effingham in the 3200 meter relay in 11:31.18. Team members were Madison Tilford, Nikki Schneiderjohn, Miranda Fox and Weaver; Shelby Rieman in the high jump at 4-7; Katie Carie in the long jump at 15-8 and Marissa Miller in the shot with a throw of 28-11 1/4.

Kaylee Phillips took fifth in the 200 in 29.98 followed by teammates Rieman seventh in 31.02 and Madison Pierce 10th in 32.09.

Sixth place finishes went to Phillips in the high jump at 4-7 and in the 60 meter dash in 8.86, Schneiderjon in the 800 in 2:58.33 and the 800 relay team of Pierce, Anna Sigg, Rieman and Phillips in 2:02.42.

Other finishes were: Effingham eighth in the 1600 relay in 4:49.91. Team members were Weaver, Paige Kalber, K. Carie and Natalie Carie; Pierce eighth in the 60 meter dash in 9.12; Kalber ninth in the 400 meter dash in 1:18.46; Schniederjon ninth in the 1600 in 6:37.79 and Tilford 12th in 6:56.97; Kalber 14th in the long jump at 11-5 1/4 and Maccy Latch 17th in the shot at 21-6.
