Several Area Girls Place at State Track Meet

CHARLESTON -- Several area girls medaled at the Class 1A State Track Meet Saturday at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brian Stadium.

Tetuopolis finished sixth as a team due in large part to Claire Bushur who finished second in the discus with a throw of 138 feet, 5 inches. The winner was 151 feet, 8 inches. Bushur also took fourth in the shot with a heave of 42 feet, 10 inches.

The 3200 relay team of Jessica Runde, Rebecca Habing, Kara Weichman and Morgan Mette finished second with a time of 9:49.12 minutes. Tremont won with a time of 9:44.07.

Also placing for the Wooden Shoes were Micah McWhorter sixth in the pole vault at 10 feet, 3 inches and the 1600 relay team of Weichman, Allison Will, Habing and Mette who finished sixth in 4:11.41.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Jaelyn Robertson competed in two final events. Robertson took sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.48 seconds. She also competed in the long jump and had a leap of 17 feet, 1 3/4 inches for seventh place. CHBC finished 35th.

Altamont had two competing in three events. Hanna Wolff finished ninth in the shot with a throw of 38-0 and was 12th in the discus at 114-4. Rachel Jackman went over the high jump bar at 5 feet, 1 inch and tied for eighth.The Indians tied for 72nd place with two points.

Cumberland's Jasmyn Dittamore finished 26th in the 3200 with a time of 12:50.16.

Effingham High School's Kiyah Kuhlman was the lone area representative in the Class 2A State Meet. Kuhlman competed in the 300 hurdles where she finished eighth with a time of 46.59 seconds.
