Hearts Win Big Trojan Boys Track Title

Build a bigger trophy case because Effingham High School's boys track squad has won another championship.

This time the Hearts headed to the Big Trojan Meet at Charleston where they took the title with 129 points followed by Mattoon 102.5, Mount Zion 96.5, Paris 65, Charleston 64.5, Robinson 62.5, Cumberland 48, Lincoln 44, Casey-Westfield 37, Olney 31 and Marshall 16.

Effingham captured five first place finishes in the meet along with racking up lots of second through eighth place finishes.

Kody Line was a double event winner for the Hearts. Line nabbed the high jump soaring over the bar at 6 feet, 2 inches. He also claimed the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 11 inches. Teammate Tristin Duncan finished second at 19-10.

Terrance Hill and Braden Hasty came in one-two in the 100 with times of 10.94 seconds and 11.26. Alec Morrissey won the pole vault at 14 feet.

Effingham won the 400 relay in 43.96 seconds and took second in the 1600 relay in 3:32.27.

Clayton Cramsey was second in the 400 in 52.36. Mathew Robinson was second while teammate Frank Schniederjon was third in the shot. The pair had throws of 47-9 and 47-1 1/2. Jacob Miller was third in the triple jump at 41-4. Hasty finished fourth in the 200 in 23.77. Holden Lewis finished fourth in the 300 hurdles.
