EHS, St. A Win Boys, Girls Meets, T-town's Kingery Breaks Record

Effingham High School claimed both a boys and girls track meet victory Tuesday.

In the boys meet, the Hearts won with 92 points followed by Altamont 75 and St. Elmo/Brownstown 19.

Kody Line and Tristin Duncan claimed two victories each for the Hearts. Line won the long jump at 19 feet, 7 1/2 inches and the high jump at 5-10.

Duncan was a winner in the 100 in 11.67 seconds and the 200 in 24.69.

Other EHS wins came from Kaleb Kihne in the 400 in 53.89 seconds, Frank Schniederjon in the shot with a throw of 50 feet, 10 inches and Jacob Miller in the triple jump at 38-3.

The Hearts also claimed the 3200 relay in 9:55.49, the 400 relay in 47.54 and the 1600 relay in 3:48.36. Team members on the 3200 were Andrew Perry, Alfredo Lopez, Patel Amin and Brady Chaves. Team members on the 400 were Braden Hasty, Duncan, Jordan McCabe and Line. Team members on the 1600 were Chaves, Patel, Kihne and Clayton Cramsey.

Budde was a double event winner for Altamont. Budde won the 3200 in 11:57.09 minutes and the 1600 in 5:11.58.

In the girls meet, Effingham tallied 104 points followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 85, Charleston 52 and Altamont 40.

Winning for the Hearts were Weaver in the 3200 in 13:22.2 minutes and the 1600 in 6:17.86. Kuhlman won the 100 hurdles in 16.17. Fox won the 800 in 2:34.03.

N. Carie was a winner in the triple jump at 31-2 1/2. K. Carie won the 400 in 1:09.46. Phillips was a winner in the 200 in 29.49.

Effingham won the 400 relay in 54.09 and the 1600 in 4:45.86.

Wolfe nabbed two wins for Altamont. She claimed the shot in 38-11 and the discus at 111-10.

 At Vandalia

Teutopolis competed in the Vandalia Meet but have not received results yet. The big news from the meet was T-town's Joe Kingery who broke a 32-year-old school record in the discus.

The junior had a throw of 158 feet, smashing the previous record of 150-5.

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony captured both the boys and girls meets against Shelbyville Tuesday.

In the girls meet, the Bulldogs won with 76 points while Shelbyville had 57.

St. Anthony's Sarah Carr picked up two victories. She won the 1600 in 6:14.27 minutes and the 800 in 2:30.31.

Niebrugge was a winner in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 1/2 inch. Abby Cothran won the triple jump at 28-4. Jessica Wilson won the 100 in 14.12 seconds. Kaitlyn Zeller claimed the 3200 in 13:56.32. Passalacqua was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 57.46.

The Bulldogs won the 400 relay in 56.44. Team members were Rogers, Deters, Cothran and Wilson. They also claimed the 800 relay in 1:59.75. Team members were Passalaqua, Ludwig, Deters and Westendorf. The Bulldogs won the 1600 relay in 4:28.22. Members of the team were Carr, Ludwig, Westendorf and Wilson.

 In the boys meet, St. Anthony was a 73-65 winner.

 The Bulldogs' Clayton Helmink was a double event winner. Helmink won the 3200 in 13:54.43 and the 300 hurdles in 46.15.

Dust captured two wins, taking the 1600 in 5:01.92 minutes and the high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches.

Wiedman was a winner in the 110 hurdles in 18.70 seconds.Tegeler won the 800 in 2:71.95.

The pole vault went to Elder with a vault of 10 feet.

The Bulldogs also claimed two relay events, taking the 3200 in 9:29.3. Team members were Wiedman, Helmink, Tegeler and Dust. St. Anthony won the 1600 relay in 4:04.26. Team members were Dust, Helmink, Willenborg and Friedman.
