Newton Second, Area Teams Compete at Robinson Invite

ROBINSON --Robinson High School won the Coach Cork Boys Track Invitational Friday.

The Maroons won with 100 points followed by Newton 96, Palestine/Hutsonville 72, Paris 68, Mount Carmel 66, Olney 55, Fairfield 45, Altamont 42, Teutopolis 30, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 18, Lawrenceville 12 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 5.

The Eagles won the 400 relay  with a time of 45.02 seconds. Team members were Kyle Zumbahlen, Peyton Doughty, Jerald Eckl and Trenton Duncan.

Newton also claimed the 800 relay in 1:35.93 minutes. Team members were Kyle Zumbahlen, Doughty, Duncan and Jadon Kuhl).

Newton captured the freshman/sophomore 1600 relay in 3:54.68 minutes. Team members were Ignacio Moragues, Jerald Eckl, Joseph Smock and Seth Weber).

Altamont's Nate Brown captured the discus with a new school record throw of 157 feet, 7 inches. T-town's Joe Kingery was second in 148-8. Altamont's Brown also won the shot with a throw of 46-7 1/2.

Jason Kowalski finished second for T-town in the pole vault at 13-6. Altamont's Tia Moore finished third in 13-3.
