Effingham's Frank Schniederjon Sets Track Record

MATTOON -- Effingham High School competed in the Mattoon Boys Track Invitational Friday and finished fifth.
The Hearts' Frank Schniederjon claimed the shot put championship with a throw of 54 feet, 4 inches. That throw set a new EHS record. The previous record was 54-1/2 set by Nate Boggs in 2012.
Marion won the invitational championship with 104 points followed by Decatur MacArthur 78, Centralia 65, Mattoon 63, Effingham 62, Charleston 61, Champaign Central 56, Urbana 54 and Decatur Eisenhower 15.
Alec Morrissey captured first place in the pole vault for the Hearts with a vault of 13 feet.
Terrance HIll was second and Kody Line third in the high jump. Hill had a 6 feet leap as did Line. Line took third in the long jump with a jump of 18-9.
Clayton Cramsey took second in the 400 in 52.44 seconds.
In Saturday action, the Hearts finished ninth at the Winston Brown Invitational in Edwardsville.
Winning was the host squad Edwardsville with 130 points followed by Plainfield North 127, O'Fallon 112.5, Homewood-Flossmoor 97, Collinsville 76.5, Triad 75, Alton 60, Carthage 54, Effingham 26, St. Rita 16, Quincy 16, Madison 13, Roxana 10 and First Baptist Academy 4.
Top five finishes for the Hearts included a third by Schniederjon in the shot with a throw of 48-6 and third by Alec Morrissey in the pole vault at 13 feet.
Kody Line took fourth in the high jump at 5 feet, 11 inches. Clayton Cramsey finished fifth in the 400 with a time of 52.94 seconds.
