EHS, Newton Are Nick Volk F/S Meet Champions

The Effingham freshman/sophomore boys track team captured the championship of the Nick Volk Meet.

Effingham High School's freshman/sophomore boys track squad captured the championship of the Nick Volk F/S Track Meet Tuesday.

The Hearts won with 145 points followed by Robinson 125, Newton 110, Paris 106, Olney 56 and Teutopolis 78.

Tristin Duncan claimed the 100 in 11.56 seconds and the 200 in 24.91.

Clayton Cramsey was a winner in the 400 in 54.87. Tristin Elkin won the discus with a throw of 108 ft. 11 inches.

The Hearts won the 200 Relay in 46.84 seconds. Members were Cramsey, Gunnar Franklin, Herboth and Duncan. The Hearts also claimed the 800 relay in 3:54.47 minutes. Team members were Herboth, Parsh Amin, Zeel Patel and Cramsey.

Newton's Jacob Stanley was a winner in two events, the 110 hurdles in 17.67 and the 300 hurdles in 44.07.

Newton was the team champion in the girls meet with 184.5 points followed by Paris 145.50, Robinson 122.5 and Teutopolis 64.5.

Brooklyn Herman won the 100 for the Eagles in 12.96 seconds and took the 200 in 28.18.

Claire Carr won the 400 in 1:05.39 minutes and the long jump at 14 feet, 9 inches. Abby Stone took the 800 in 2:39.10. Madison Phillips won the 1600 in 6:39.0. Liz Volk claimed the 100 hurdles in 17.07 seconds.

The Eagles won the 200 Relay in 52.16 seconds. Team members were Ana Rodriguez, Carr, Herman and Stone. Newton also won the 400 Relay in 1:54.20. Team members were Riley Zumbahlen, Allyson Kuhl, Herman and Rodriguez.

Newton claimed the 800 Relay in 4:30.6. Madison Philips, Carr, Rodriguez and Stone were the runners.
