Area Track Teams Compete at Charleston Indoor Invitational

CHARLESTON -- Area girls track teams converged on Charleston for the Girls Indoor Invitational Track Meet at Eastern Illinois University Saturday.

St. Joseph-Ogden won the team title with 70 points followed by Champaign St. Thomas More 52, Pleasant Plains 38.5,  Teutopolis 38, Newton 32, Schlarman Academy 30, Tremont 28, Casey-Westfield 28, Williamsville 22, Warrensburg-Latham 20.5, Gibson City/Melvin-Sibley 20, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 20, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 20, Springfield Lutheran 19, Fisher 16, Carlinville 13, Shelbyville 10, Neoga 9, Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 9, Salt Fork 8.5, Lowpoint-Washburn 7, Brownstown/St. Elmo 7, Bloomington Central Catholic 6.5, Peterburg PORTA 6.5, Tuscola 6, Marshall 6, Bismarck-Henning 6, Altamont 5, Gillespie 5, Robinson 5, Central A&M 5, Palestine 2.5, Christopher 2, Effingham St. Anthony 2 and New Berlin 1.

T-town's Claire Bushur was the champion in the shot with a throw of 39 feet, 6 inches.

The Wooden Shoes also claimed the championship of the 3200 Meter Relay with a time of 10:44 minutes.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Jaelyn Robertson was second in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 3/4 inches. She took fourth in the long jump at 15-9 and was fourth in the 60 meter hurdles in 10.18 seconds.

Newton captured a second place in the 1600 meter relay in 4:25.77 followed in third by Teutopolis in 4:26.72.
