EHS Sends Four Boys To Class 2A State Meet, Neoga, WSS Athletes Don't Advance In 1A

MAHOMET -- Effingham High School will be sending four boys to the Class 2A State Track Meet next Friday and Saturday at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium.
To advance, EHS athletes had to place either first or second or reach a state qualifying standard at the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional Thursday.
Terrence Hill will be going in two events. The junior fnished second in the 100 with a time of 11.09 seconds. He also will be competing in the high jump after finishing third but reaching the state qualifying standard with a leap of 6 feet, 3 inches.
Kody Line, a junior for the Hearts, also will be competing in the high jump after making a jump of 6-3, finishing in a tie for sixth.
Jacob Donaldson will be competing in the 800. Donaldson took fourth place with a time of 1:59.27 minutes but made the state qualifying time.
Alec Morrissey finished fourth in the pole vault at 13-1 and made the state qualifying height.
Mahomet-Seymour won the team championship with 97 points followed by Mattoon 90, Tolono Unity 76.5, Mount Zion 54, Rantoul 51, Monticello 36, Effingham 33.5, Paris 28, Urbana 26, Champaign Central 20, Charleston 19, Robinson 11, Clinton 8 and Sullivan 8.

Neoga and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg competed in the Tuscola Sectional but did not advance anyone to state. The Indians tallied nine points in the meet while WSS did not score.
Tuscola won the team title with 110 points followed by Pana 70, Decatur St. Teresa 64, New Berlin 63, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 43, Shelbyville 41.5, Macon Meridian 38, Arcola 26, Riverton 25, Niantic Sangamon Valley 21.5, Moweaqua Central A&M 12, Decatur Lutheran 12, Hume Shiloh 10, Villa Grove 10 and Neoga 9. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg also competed but did not score.
