Junior High State Track 2017 Results

St. Anthony's 1600 relay team captured first place at the Class A State Track Meet during the weekend.

EAST PEORIA -- Several junior high athletes did very well at the seventh and eighth grade boys and girls state track meets last weekend.

Three boys in eighth-grade captured state titles while one girl in the eighth-grade was crowned state champion.

For the boys, Effingham St. Anthony claimed the 1600 relay first place finish with a time of 3:47.37 minutes. Team members were Kennan Walsh, Mike Willenborg, Kalen Reardon and Brian Dust.

"I believe this is a new St. Anthony Grade School record," said St. Anthony Coach Eric Morales. "It was super hot, but a beautiful weekend to run. A great experience and the boys ran fanstistic. Very proud of all their hard work and everyone did well."

St. Anthony's Logan Antrim was a first place finisher in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet, 3 inches. Sigel St. Michael's Gavin Hoene took second, also at 10-3.

Neoga's Reece Johnson won the 1600 in 4:43.20 minutes. St. Anthony's Brian Dust was fourth in 4:51.61.

In the girls eighth-grade state meet, Neoga's Abbi Dow captured first place in the pole vault at 9 feet. Other top five area placers were Katelyn Yaw (Cumberlnad) fourth at 8-0 and Taylor Mette (Altamont) fifth at 7-6.

Other top five finishers in the seventh-grade boys state meet were Craig Croy (Sigel St. Michael) second in the 100 in 12.57 and third in the 200 in 25.39. He also had a fourth place finish in the high jump at 5-2.

Altamont's Logan Reardon finished fourth in the 400 in 57.23. Tristan Rhodes of Altamont was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 17.81 Altamont took fifth in the 800 relay in 1:49.90.

St. Anthony's Max Sager was fourth in the pole vault at 8-3.

In the eighth-grade boys meet, Cumberland's Memphis Waggoner finished second in the high jump at 5-8.

Cumberland took fourth in the 400 relay in 49.26. Neoga was fourth in the 800 relay in 1:42.04

Cumberland's Wyatt Brant finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-6 1/2.

Neoga's Blaze Thompson was fourth in the shot with a throw of 41-11 1/2.

Altamont's Brennyn Abendroth took third in the discus with a throw of 136-8

In the seventh-grade girls meet, St. Anthony's Riley Guy took third in the 800 in 2:29.18. Guy tied for fourth with teammate Isabelle Hakman in the pole vault at 6-9 along with Altamont's Julianna Berg and Sigel St. Michael's Kaitlyn Schumacher.

St. Anthony's 1600 relay team finished fifth in 4:27.68. Macy Ludwig finished fourth in the high jump at 4-11.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Tatyiana Duckwitz was fourth in the 100 in 13.50.

Neoga's Gracie Gresens was third in the high jump at 4-11. Neoga's 1600 relay team finished fifth in 4:33.38.

In eighth-grade girls state, Brownstown/St. Elmo's Elly Wilhour finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:30.65.

Cumberland's Jasmyn Dittamore was fourth in the 1600 in 5:33.58.

Altamont's 400 relay team took fourth in 54.39.
