Area Girls Teams Compete at C'land Invite, Apollo F/S Results

TOLEDO -- Robinson High School claimed the Cumberland Lady Pirate Track Invitational Friday with 124 points followed by Neoga 92, Cumberland 58, Effingham St. Anthony 41 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 32.

St. Anthony's Sarah Carr claimed first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.14 minutes and took second in the 400.

Neoga's Emmalyn Walk took first in the 1600 in 6:07.66 minutes and first in the 3200 in 13:05.93. Abbi Kepp won the 100 hurdles in 16.46 seconds. The Indians' 1600 relay team of Allison Kingery, Mackenzie Hill, Rachel Ewing and Walk finished first in 4:34.58. Kingery, Ellie Clark, Ewing and Walk also finished first in the 3200 relay in 11:54.65.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Claire Wilhout finished first in the 300 hurdles in 49.62 and was second in the 100 hurdles. Elissa Baron was first in the shot with a throw of 29 feet, 7 1/2 inches.

Cumberland's 800 relay team of Elise Hemmen, Melina Rusche, Morgan Gerhardt and Lainey Jackson won in 1:58.28.

At Salem

Effingham competed in the Apollo Conference Freshman/Sophomore boys and girls meets at Salem Saturday.

In the girls meet, Mattoon won with 138 points followed by Charleston 121, Mount Zion 94, Salem 69, Effingham 65 and Taylorville 53.

Effingham's Natalie Carie won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.79 seconds. Kylee Beard claimed the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 8 inches.

In the boys meet, Charleston won the team championship with 126.5 points followed by Mount Zion 112, Salem 107, Mattoon 86, Effingham 79.5 and Taylorville 11.

Tyler Marschewski claimed two victories, winning the 200 in 25.27 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 45.88. He also had a second place finish in the 110 hurdles. Clayton Cramsey was a winner in the 400 in 54.30 and also took second in the 200 behind his teammate.
