Hearts Win Boys Meet, Second in Girls Meet

Effingham High School played host to Mount Zion and Cumberland in boys and girls track competition Tuesday.

The Hearts won the boys meet with 83.5 points followed by Mount Zion 51 and Cumberland 47.5.

Hill captured two first place finishes for EHS. Hill won the 100 in 11.66 seconds and captured the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches.

Line claimed the long jump at 19-2 for the Hearts while Miller was a winner in the triple jump at 39-3 1/2. Morrissey claimed the pole vault at 12-6.

Donaldson won the 800 in 2:05.25 minutes. The Hearts also nabbed the 800 relay in 1:36.55 and the 1600 relay in 3:41.87.

In the girls meet, Mount Zion was the team champion with 95 points followed by Effingham 62 and Cumberland 28.

The Hearts had six first place finishes in the meet. Myers claimed two of those victories. Myers took the shot with a heave of 33 feet, 7 1/2 inches and captured the discus at 90-8 1/2.

Cordes won the 3200 in 12:46 minutes. Fox nabbed the 400 in 1:05.62. Beard was a winner in the long jump at 13-7 while Carie took the triple jump in 29-9.
